Monte Lee Returns
Monte Lee returns to Patriots Point for the first time on Tuesday as Clemson's head coach. In seven seasons as the head coach at The College, Lee compiled a 276-145 overall record, and a 132-62 mark in league play. Lee led the Cougars to three conference championships and a berth in the 2014 NCAA Super Regional as well.
On Base Maestros
A trio of Cougars have been models of consistency when it comes to getting on base this season, as
Logan McRae,
Luke Manzo, and
Bradley Dixon have been nearly impossible to keep off the base paths. McRae had a 15-game reached safely streak snapped last Tuesday, which included a 10-game hitting streak. Dixon had a 13-game hitting streak snapped last Sunday; Manzo has reached safely in 18-of-20 games this season.
Scouting Clemson
The Tigers enter Tuesday's match-up with a 16-4 overall record, and a 5-1 mark in ACC play after taking two-of-three from Virginia over the weekend. Clemson has won 10 of its last 11, including a sweep of Notre Dame last weekend.
Chris Williams paces the Tiger offense with three home runs, 16 RBIs, and a .350 batting average; Chase Pinder is batting a team-high .365 with 16 runs driven in. On the mound, Charlie Barnes boasts a 1.05 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 34 and one-third innings, while Tuesday's starter carries a 2-1 record with a 5.24 ERA and 29 strikeouts.
