CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team has added current CofC student Natalie Tucker (Isle of Palms, S.C.) to its ranks for the upcoming 2017 season, announced head coach Jason Kepner on Monday.
"We are excited to add Natalie to our team for the fall," said Kepner. "I had the opportunity to watch her play during her years at Wando, and was very impressed with her work ethic and competitiveness. She took those attributes with her to Limestone and was successful both on the court and in the classroom. I really feel that she will make a very smooth transition to our volleyball family."
Tucker played for NCAA Division II institution Limestone College during the 2014 and 2015 seasons before transferring to The College. During her two-year stint with the Saints, Tucker totaled 1,430 assists, 404 digs, 87 kills, and 22 service aces. The 5-foot-8 setter dished out a team-high 793 assists (9.67 per set) during the 2015 season, while helping Limestone to a 19-7 overall record and a berth in the conference championship match. In 2014, Tucker recorded double-digit assists in 23 matches and was named the Team MVP.
Tucker starred for Wando High School, and was named the Post and Courier's High School Volleyball Player of the Year in 2013 during her senior season. She also garnered 2013 HSSR AAAA and All-Region VII Player of the Year honors in 2013, while leading Wando to a 48-6 record and berth in the state championship match. In 2012, Tucker was named the All-Region Player of the Year in addition to earning a spot on the All-Low Country First Team. Tucker was also recognized as an AVCA Player to Watch in 2011.
