NORFOLK, Va. --- Six College of Charleston sailors were honored as Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association All-Americans on Friday evening including a fourth-consecutive All-America nod for senior Alie Toppa.
This year's group of six All-Americans marks the program's highest total since the 2017-18 season when the Cougars equaled the school-record with eight selections. Toppa is the eighth four-time All-American in program history and the first since Allison Blecher '10 accomplished the feat between 2007 and 2010.
Also earning All-America recognition from the ICSA are: senior Steven Leuck (Coed Honorable Mention), senior Katie Lounsbury (Crew), junior Jack Brown (Coed), junior Marian Williams (Women's Honorable Mention) and freshman Noelle Owen (Crew Honorable Mention).
Toppa was in the midst of a superb senior season prior to the pandemic having played a key role in several regatta victories, including a 20-point win in her final collegiate regatta at the Navy Spring Women's in March. Leuck snags his first career ICSA All-America nod after helping the Cougars to a trio of regatta wins this season including a dominating victory at the Bob Bavier Team Race in February while also claiming a three-point victory at the SAISA Men's Singlehanded Championship last fall.
This marks the third career All-America selection for Lounsbury who has now secured ICSA All-American Crew honors in three straight seasons. The Jensen Beach, Fla., native helped the Cougars to four regatta victories this season including the team's 20-point win at the Navy Spring Women's in March.
