PHILADELPHIA – The Cougars managed to hang tight with Drexel for the first two and a half quarters Friday night at the Daskalakis Athletic Center, but the Dragons (13-4, 4-2) pulled away late to capture the 70-57 win and drop the College of Charleston women's basketball team to 5-12 overall.

Breanna Bolden submitted the most impressive individual effort of the night, nothing her sixth and CofC's 14thh double-double of the season with 21 points, 13 rebounds and three steals. She came up particularly big in the third quarter, responding to two back-to-back Drexel threes with threes of her own to keep the game tight. She finished the night 7 of 16 from the field and 3 for 5 from long-range.
• The Dragons put together dangerous runs in all four quarters, but the Cougars took advantage of timely scoring to end the first three quarters on positive notes. The Dragons were up 15-8 in the waning moments of the first quarter before a
Dajah Logan three brought the College to within four at the end of one. Later,
Darien Huff scored a three of her own on the final basket of the second stanza to send CofC into the locker room only trailing five.
Tanisha Brown finished the trifecta, scoring the final basket of the third quarter to reduce the deficit.
• The College effectively matched the Dragons in shooting, and drastically outrebounded Drexel 42-30. The Cougars' undoing came in the turnover department, as CofC committed nine in the first quarter before finishing the game with a season-high 28. Sarah Curran was the only Dragon to reach double-digit scoring with 10, as Drexel relied on its bench scoring to propel them when their starters were stymied early. Drexel point guard Meghan Creighton reached a significant milestone by dishing out her 500
th career assist.
• Huff and
Tanisha Brown both joined Bolden in double-digits with 10 and 12 points respectively.
Dajah Logan was effective in the early portion of the game with eight points and five boards at half, while
Nola Henry did an admirable job at the point with a six-assist performance.
The Cougars will wrap up their road trip Sunday when they head to Newark to do battle with the Blue Hens. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
