TOWSON, MD. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (5-8, 1-1) set the program record for most points scored in a first quarter on New Year's Eve, riding the momentum to the 80-67 win over Towson (5-8, 0-2) for CofC's first-ever win on the road against the Tigers.

Deja Ford had a career day for the Cougars in front of her friends and family in her home-state, setting collegiate highs in both scoring and rebounding with a 20-7 performance. Ford added two assists and two steals, and played a team-high 38 minutes.
• The Cougars came out firing, scoring two early threes and pushing the pace early to take a 14-3 advantage at the start of the game. CofC finished the first quarter up 28-9, which was the school's fifth-highest scoring quarter since NCAA women's basketball adopted quarters three years ago.

Tanisha Brown had a strong game on both ends with a 20-10 afternoon, which accounted for her 15
th-career double-double and her eighth 20-point game.
Cailin Dorsey pawed away a career-best three steals and converted two of her four three-point attempts, while
Shiclasia Brown finished with six boards and six assists to go with her seven points.
• The Cougars matched their 28 points in the first quarter with another 28 in the fourth. Towson committed 23 fouls over the course of the game, which allowed the College to have a banner afternoon from the free-throw line, as CofC went 22 of 24 from the stripe. CofC was also effective from the field, shooting 52.9% on 27 of 51 shooting.
• Towson gave a spirited effort on put-back attempts, as 30 of their 45 rebounds were on the offensive glass. Three Tigers reached double-digit scoring, with Mary Cuevas scoring a team-high 21 and Nukiya Mayo registering a 17-10 double-double.
CofC returns to TD Arena next weekend for a two-game home-stand against Hofstra on Friday and Delaware on Sunday.
