Mascot Request Form
Looking to add some excitement to your special event? When available, Clyde the Cougar loves to make public appearances for community and/or private parties upon request in Charleston and surrounding areas!
QUICK NOTES
- Requests must be submitted a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the appearance using the online request form linked below. Requests cannot be submitted over the phone or by e-mail.
- The required online form is a request form only and submitting it does not guarantee that a mascot appearance will be scheduled. Our mascot performance team is made up entirely of student-athlete volunteers who complete an official tryout, undergo an annual physical, and train with our Spirit Program teams. In addition to mascot responsibilities, they maintain a full-time academic course load and participate in athletic practices and performances, which can limit their availability. While we strive to accommodate as many requests as possible, not all requests can be fulfilled, regardless of when they are submitted.
- Priority is given to athletic and campus-related requests.
- Due to a large volume of requests and schedule fluctuations from our volunteer performance team, mascots are not confirmed until 10 business days prior to an event.
- Clyde the Cougar is at your event to make it memorable and fun! Please maintain a safe and friendly environment. Our mascot has the right to walk away from any appearance they deem unsafe and harmful without a refund.
- Appearances further away than 15 miles round-trip from TD Arena (301 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401) will require a mileage charge (a set fee).
COST FOR BOOKING
As of July 1, 2024, the Clyde appearance fee will be as follows:
ON-CAMPUS COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON EVENTS
$50/PER HOUR
A reduced rate of $50 is available for appearances requested by departments or organizations within the College of Charleston system such as colleges, departments, units, regional campuses, and student organizations.
501(c)(3) NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
$75/PER HOUR
A reduced rate of $75 is available for non-profit organizations that hold a 501(c)(3) designation from the U.S. Department of Treasury through the Internal Revenue Service.
PUBLIC EVENTS
$100/PER HOUR
The rate is $100 for appearances requested by the general public such as corporate events, parades, festivals, birthday parties, etc. If the party making the request does not qualify as a College of Charleston or 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, this is the rate for any mascot appearance.
PAYMENT
The College of Charleston will reach out by email to provide the link to make the payment for your event. Payments will need to be accepted 48 hours in advance for confirmation of request. If payment is not received we reserve the right to cancel the request.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations are rare and the mascot team will do everything in their power to complete approved appearance requests. But, with a performance team made up of entirely student-athlete volunteers, situations including illness, class conflicts, personal emergencies, etc. may occur. We reserve the right to cancel any mascot appearance up to an hour before the event. In the event that we cancel an appearance on our end, you will receive a full refund.
TIMELINE
1. At least two weeks prior to your event, request Clyde the Cougar using the online form below.
2. You will receive email confirmation that your request has been received.
3. At least ten business days before your event, our Mascot Coordinator will contact you to provide an update regarding your request.
4. Confirmation
- If the mascot is available to make your appearance, you will receive an email confirmation from the Mascot Coordinator. We will process payment, confirm the details for your appearance including the mascot’s attire, and give you the name and contact information for the student who will making the appearance at your event.
- If the mascot is not able to make an appearance at your event, you will be notified via email. We do our best to fill all requests, but please keep in mind that appearances are staffed by student-athletes.
5. Your mascot performer may be in direct contact on the day of the event to coordinate details of the appearance. Please communicate any changes to the appearance at your earliest convenience to both the mascot performer and the mascot coordinator.
APPEARANCE NEEDS
- A clean, private, and secure changing area
- Breaks built into the schedule if the appearance exceeds 1 hour
- Water supplied if the appearance exceeds 1 hour
