
Cougars Host Phoenix Thursday Night

The College of Charleston men's basketball team looks to rebound from its first home loss of the season with a Thursday, Feb. 11 game against Elon at the Carolina First Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
The Cougars hold a 7-4 series record over Elon, with Elon having won the last meeting. Charleston couldn't recover from a school-record eight-point first half performance and fell to Elon 59-53 back on Jan. 31, 2009.
Charleston is 16-9 overall and 11-3 in the Southern Conference, after having its three game-winning streak snapped with a 72-65 loss to The Citadel this past Monday. It was the first loss of the season at home for the Cougars, who are now 10-1 in the Carolina First Arena.
The Cougars are led by Andrew Goudelock with 19.7 points a game. Jeremy Simmons paces the team in rebounds with 7.8 a game. Charleston is 7-3 in its last 10 games and average 80.7 points per game, compared to 73.9 for the opposition. The Cougars are shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
Elon is 6-17 overall and 4-8 in the league. The Phoenix has won its last two games and upset North Division leader Western Carolina, 81-76, in its last game. Drew Spradlin leads Elon with 13.2 points per game. Adam Constantine pulls down an average of 7.7 rebounds a game to pace the squad.
