
Cougars Travel to Furman to Close Out Regular Season

The College of Charleston men's basketball team closes out its regular season looking for its 23rd 20-win season when the Cougars take on Furman at Timmons Arena Saturday, Feb. 27. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
Charleston is 19-10 overall and 13-4 in the Southern Conference and has won six of its last eight games. The Cougars dropped their first in four games with a 74-68 loss at Wofford Thursday. CofC has had at least 20 wins in 22 seasons and with 19 wins, the Cougars are on the verge of 20 wins for the third time in the last four years.
Charleston is led by Andrew Goudelock (Lilburn, Ga.) with 19.3 points a game. Jeremy Simmons (Lithonia, Ga.) paces the team in rebounds with 8.2 a game.
Furman is 13-5 overall and 7-10 in the Southern Conference. The Paldins snapped a two-game skid with a 59-44 win over The Citadel. Furman is led by Amu Saaka with 16.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Jordan Miller follows with 14.1 points a game.
The Paladins own the overall series record 40-32, but the Cougars hold a 20-3 advantage since joining the Southern Conference. Charleston won the last meeting, 92-80, Jan. 21, 2010.
Charleston is 6-4 in its last 10 games and averages 78.3 points per game, compared to 76.4 for the opposition. The Cougars are shooting 36.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc and have 20 more blocks, 38-18.
The Cougars have the number two seed in the Southern Conference South Division locked up and will play the winner of the game between the North Division third seed and the South Division sixth seed on Saturday, Mar. 6th, 30 minutes after the 7 p.m. game at Bojangles Coliseum. The winner of that game will play in the semifinals Sunday, Mar. 7th at 8:30 p.m. at Time Warner Cable Arena.
