
Charleston Continues Home Stand with Feb. 6 Game against Samford

The College of Charleston men's basketball team hosts Samford Saturday, Feb. 6 at 4 p.m. in its second of five straight home games at the Carolina First Arena. The Cougars are 9-0 at home this season and are looking for the season sweep over the Bulldogs.
The Cougars are 9-0 all time against Samford. Both were members of the TAAC (now A-Sun), with the Cougars leaving before the 1998-99 season and Samford before the 2003-04 season. Charleston defeated Samford, 78-67, in its last meeting earlier this year.
Charleston is 15-8 overall and 10-2 in the Southern Conference after having defeated Chattanooga, 86-74, in its last game. The Cougars connected on 17 of a school-record 44 three-pointers in the 12-point win. Matt Sundberg (Kennesaw, Ga.) scored a career-high 17 points off a career-best five-for-nine effort from beyond the three-point arc.
Samford is 9-14 and 3-8 after falling to The Citadel, 61-57, this past Thursday. Samford was led by Josh Davis with 24 points and seven rebounds. He is the team leader in both categories as well, with 12.8 points a game and 4.0 rebounds per game.
The Cougars are 8-2 in their last 10 games and average 81.0 points per game, compared to 74.7 for the opposition. Charleston holds a 49.3 shooting percentage, compared to 43.9 for the other teams.
