Head Coach Bobby Cremins
On the loss to The Citadel
“That was a terrific basketball game. I congratulate Citadel. They played a great game. Urbanus made a great shot. It was a really exciting game and they played great. Our league is amazing. The Citadel is as good as anyone in our league. They've lost some really close ball games and they could be right there at the top”.
About the play of The Citadel
“They played so well and they made some great shots. We hung in there but the kid that made the loose ball play, give him a lot of credit. Tony White did not see him coming. A great hustle play. I give Ed [Conroy] and The Citadel a lot of credit. They played a great basketball game and they're very good. You've got to give credit where it's deserved and they deserved it a lot tonight.”
Speaking about the Cougars' play
“We didn't shot the ball real well tonight. It was a tough game and we expected that. I thought we were alright. We got up three or four points after half but we just had trouble stopping them. The Citadel is well coached and they're good. I'm proud of our team. We were not ourselves but we hung in there and I thought we had a chance.”
“I thought we were alright until Urbanus hit that shot. We had a chance to win until then. Ed has done a fabulous job and they are as good as anyone in the league. It's a tough loss for our kids because we had so much momentum but you've got to give The Citadel a lot of credit. We hung in there though. Casaan [Breeden] and Jeremy [Simmons] made some great shots. Goudelock struggled a bit tonight. It was a tough basketball game that just didn't go our way”.
About the upcoming game with Elon
“Elon just beat Western Carolina, one of the best teams in the conference, and now we've got Elon coming in here. There are no easy games. We've played just about everybody except Elon and Appalachian State and both of them are good too. It's a great league”.
Andrew Goudelock
On the loss to The Citadel
“The Citadel played really well. It hurts but there's not a lot we can do about it. Losing to a rival, it's going to hurt. They played better than us today. We stopped ourselves. They played well but we just weren't ourselves tonight. Shots just weren't going in.”
About the atmosphere
“It was a great crowd. I am really pleased with our fans this year. They've been coming to a lot of games and shown a lot of support. That helps us a lot and gives us some extra energy. It's a great atmosphere and it's great for the city that we have this rivalry”.
Tony White, Jr.
Speaking about the key three-pointer
“Coach said to watch the flare for Urbanus. They run a little delay action that catches you off guard and I knew it was coming, I just didn't know when. I just got out there a little late. I have to give them credit.”
About the The Citadel deflection
“The key play was when their player ran and threw the ball off of me. That really changed the game because they go an extra possession and Urbanus hit a three. I take responsibility for that one. I wasn't aware that he was around me. I actually thought the ball hit the end line and that the official was going to blow it dead”.
