ICSA Team Race National Championship

CofC Sailors Finish Fourth at ICSA Team Race Nationals

The College of Charleston sailing team, after advancing to Championship round which consisted of the top four teams after three round robins, went 1-2 to finish fourth at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA)/Annapolis Performance Sailing Team Race National Championship held May 29-31 on Lake Mendota in Madison, Wisc. St. Mary's went 2-1 in the final round to go 12-5 overall and win the title, taking the event from Boston College, which won last season.
Boston College finished second, losing in a tie breaker to the Seahawks after finishing 12-5 as well. In third was Georgetown with a 10-7 overall mark, while the Cougars were just a race shy of third with a 9-8 record.
Charleston went 4-2 in the opening round robin Saturday to advance to the second round robin where the team went 3-4. The Cougars recovered in the third round robin with a 5-2 record to end the round robin competition with an 8-6 mark, good enough to advance to the finals.
The Cougars next compete at the ICSA/Gill Coed Dinghy National Championship June 1-3.
