
Cougars Secure Berth To Coed National Semifinals at SAISA Regatta

CHARLESTON, S.C. –The No. 5-ranked College of Charleston coed sailing team sailed in a consistent two-day series to place second overall at the SAISA Spring Championship hosted by Jacksonville University over the weekend in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Cougars tallied 43 points combined in eight races which were sailed across two divisions. South Florida won the event by a 10-point margin of victory (33 points). USF, CofC, Eckerd College, host Jacksonville, Clemson and New College all secured a spot at the Coed National Semifinals to be held on June 3-4 in St. Mary's, Md.
Sophomore Jake Reynolds (San Diego, Calif.) skippered the Cougars to a second-place finish in A-Division with junior All-American crew Ali Blumenthal (Bellport, N.Y.), while sophomore Ryan Davidson (Newport Beach, Calif.) skippered CofC to a one-point win over USF with sophomore crew Emily Stuart (Newport, R.I.) in B-Division.
This concludes the regular-season portion of the team's schedule as CofC now sets its sights on the postseason at the Women's National Semifinals on May 27-28 in Annapolis, Md., and the Team Race Nationals on May 31-June 2 in St. Mary's, Md. The Cougars are the defending coed national champions.
