Back-To-Back: Cougars Szambecki Team Race Champions

NORFOLK, Va. – The College of Charleston coed sailing team claimed team-race regatta wins in back-to-back weekends after finishing the 2015 Szambecki Team Race compiling a 21-3 record against the nation's best.
The Cougars won all three of their matches in Sunday's Final Four to take a convincing victory over runner-up Stanford (19-5) after two days of tough competition hosted by Old Dominion. CofC also defeated third-place Vermont (13-11), fourth-place Georgetown (13-11), fifth-place Dartmouth (9-15), sixth-place ODU (7-16), seventh-place U.S. Naval Academy (7-16) and eighth-place Fordham (6-18).
Last weekend, the Cougars won the Graham Hall Team Race hosted by Navy in Annapolis, Md. They were led to victory this weekend by skippers Dodge Rees (Pensacola, Fla.), Ryan Davidson (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Jake Reynolds (San Diego, Calif.), who were accompanied by crews Tierney Driscoll (Bayport, N.Y.), Emily Stuart (Newport, R.I.), Beka Schiff (Tampa, Fla.), Chase Shaw (Bacliff, Texas) and All-American Ali Blumenthal (Bellport, N.Y.).
The CofC women will next represent the sailing program at the Dellenbaugh Women's regatta on April 4-6 in Cranston, R.I.
