Cougars Post Close Runner-Up Finish at Navy Spring Event

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After two intense days of competition, the No. 2-ranked College of Charleston coed sailing team posted a second-place finish at the Navy Spring regatta held over the weekend on Annapolis Harbor.
Eleven points separated the first-and second-place boats after 15 rotations. The Cougars scored 157 points across both divisions, while Georgetown won the event with 146 points. CofC edged third-place Stanford (161 points) for runner-up honors. SUNY Maritime College finished fourth (207 points) and host Navy fifth (239 points) to round out the Top 5 finishers in the 20-team regatta field.
Junior Jake Reynolds (San Diego, Calif.) skippered A-Division to a third-place finish with senior All-American crew Ali Blumenthal (Bellport, N.Y.), while junior skipper Dodge Rees (Pensacola, Fla.) led the Cougars to victory in B-Division with senior crew Tierney Driscoll (Bayport, N.Y.) in races 1-9 and junior crew Beka Schiff (Tampa, Fla.) in races 10-15.
Conference championships are up next for CofC starting with the SAISA Women's Championship regatta hosted by Eckerd College on April 25-26 in St. Petersburg, Fla., and the program's first invite to the Admiral's Cup hosted by Kings Point on April 25-26 in New York, N.Y.
