CRANSTON, R.I. – The No. 3-ranked College of Charleston women's sailing team competed in perfect 10-18 knot winds on the final day to place fourth overall in the 17-team Dellenbaugh Women's Trophy regatta field.
Senior skipper Clerc Cooper (New Orleans, La.) and sophomore crew Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.) finished in sixth in A-Division compiling 49 points, while freshman skipper Elizabeth Pemberton (Osterville, Mass.) and junior crew Beka Schiff (Tampa, Fla.) won B-Division by a one-point margin (28 points) over runner-up Brown (29 points).
Six races were sailed across both A-and B-Divisions as the Cougars combined for 77 points at the regatta, just seven points out of first and tied with third-place MIT, who won the head-to-head tiebreaker.
CofC will compete this weekend at the SAISA Team Race Championship hosted by South Florida on April 11-12 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
