JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The fourth-ranked College of Charleston sailing team delivered one of its most dominating team performances in recent memory on Saturday and Sunday, as the Cougars won 15-of-24 races and beat out runner-up South Florida by 61 points to win its 10th-straight SAISA Fall Coed Championship title.
The Cougars finished the two-day competition with 38 points, and finished below third in only one of 24 races across two divisions. South Florida finished second with 99 points, followed by Jacksonville in third with 103 points.
Junior Stefano Peschiera (Lima, Peru) skippered A-Division to a total of 18 points, as he and junior crew Grace McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.) won eight of 12 races. Senior skipper Jack Cusick (Fairfield, Conn.) and senior crew Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.) racked up seven more individual race wins in B-Division to finish with 20 points. The Cougars won A-Division by 18 points, and B-Division by 27 points.
The Cougars will compete in two regattas next weekend, heading to Annapolis, Md. for the three-day (Nov. 4 – 6) Kennedy Offshore Cup, and Galveston, Texas for ICSA Men's and Women's Singlehanded Nationals on Nov. 5 and 6.
