
Cougars Win Final Show of Regular Season

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston equestrian team closed out the regular season with a dominant performance at Storybook Farm on Saturday. The team won the show with 45 points followed by Clemson with 35 points. The Cougars have won the IHSA Zone 5 Region 3 Championship for the fourth straight year, earning a trip to the IHSA Zone 5 Finals on April 2 at SCAD. Victoria Bauer will be representing the College of Charleston, and Zone 5 Region 3, at the IHSA National Championship Show in the Cacchione Cup.
“This was the best performance as a team that we have had all year,” head coach Bob Story said. “The team really rode well and it paid off for them.”
Senior Victoria Bauer won open fences followed up by freshman Shannon Rice winning intermediate flat and intermediate fences. Freshman Sophie Meserve kept the streak going with a win in novice flat. Freshman Emma Bernstein and Samantha Barton closed out the day by each winning their sections of advanced walk, trot, canter.
The Region 3 Finals will be held tomorrow at Storybook Farm with an 8:30 am start. Regional Qualifiers for the team are:
Victoria Bauer in open flat and fences, Easton Veremis in intermediate fences, Hannah Showell in intermediate flat, Rachel Hyland in novice flat, and Jenna Terribile in walk, trot, canter.
