GAINESVILLE, Fla. – College of Charleston senior Parker Derby (Columbus, Ga.) shot a final-round 68 on the final day of the SunTrust Gator Invitational held on Sunday at the par-70 Mark Bostick Golf Course.
Derby made four birdies and carded the third-lowest round of the tournament. The Cougars, who entered the spring ranked No. 44 in the nation, tied for 12th overall with North Texas (+37).
No. 29 Arkansas won the team title (+5) followed by No. 35 Missouri and No. 38 Jacksonville (+12) tied for second. Host Florida, ranked No. 2 in the country, was fourth (+13) and No. 30 Florida State fifth (+20).
Senior William Rainey (Charlotte, N.C.) finished inside the Top 25 individually with a three-round score of 216 (+6) and tied for 22nd.
"It was great to see the improvement from the first round to the final round," CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "Parker Derby stepped up and gave us a 68 on Sunday which was the third-lowest round of the tournament. We've got some work to do, but I expect for us to be in contention out west in Los Angeles next week."
The Cougars will travel to the West Coast later this week to compete at the Southwestern Invitational hosted by Pepperdine on Feb. 27-28 at the North Ranch Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
