Cougars Place Fifth At Dellenbaugh Women's

CRANSTON, R.I. --- Alie Toppa (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Annabel Carrington (White Stone, Va.), and Caroline Bracken (Bridgewater, Mass.) sailed to a fourth-place finish in A-Division to lead the College of Charleston sailing team to a fifth-place performance at the Dellenbaugh Women's on Saturday and Sunday. The Cougars also placed seventh at the rigorous Lynne Marchiando Team Race in Cambridge, Mass.
At the Dellenbaugh Women's, the Cougars finished fifth with 263 points – one ahead of sixth-place George Washington. Alie Toppa skippered Charleston to 142 points in A-Division alongside crew of Carrington and Bracken. Skipper Paris Henken (Coronado, Calif.) and crew of Liza Toppa, and Elizaebeth Mignon (Bay Head, N.J.) totaled 121 points in B-Division to finish sixth.
The Cougars finished seventh at the Lynne Marchiando Team Race with a 14-8 record. After failing to advance into the Gold top 6 with an 8-7 record in round one, Charleston rebounded with a 6-1 mark in the Silver bottom 10 to place seventh. Augie Dale (Pewaukee, Wis.), Christophe Killian (Newport Beach, Calif.), and Stefano Peschiera (Lima, Peru) skippered for the Cougars, with Katie Lounsbury (Jensen Beach, Fla.), Grace McCartthy (San Diego, Calif.), and Elizabeth Pemberton (Osterville, Mass.) serving as crew.
Charleston is scheduled to sail in four regattas next weekend, three of which will be hosted at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex. The Cougars will host the SAISA Team Race Championships on Saturday, April 7, as well as the Spring Harbor Race and SAISA Coed on Sunday, April 8. Charleston will also travel to the Emily Wick Women's on Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8 in New London, Conn.
