Cougars Claim SAISA Fall Women's Championship

WILMINGTON, N.C. --- Marian Williams skippered the College of Charleston sailing team to a 13-point win in B-Division to propel the Cougars to a dominating victory at the SAISA Fall Women's Championship on Saturday.
The Cougars won the regatta by a 16-point margin over second-place Jacksonville with 27 points from 16 races. South Florida was third followed by Miami and Eckerd in fourth and fifth respectively.
Williams and crew Natasha Scott Morton accumulated 11 points to finish 13 points clear of second-place Jacksonville in B-Division. The duo won six of eight races while finishing second and third in the remaining two. Alie Toppa skippered the Cougars to 16 points in A-Division with four race wins alongside crew Laura Masterson.
The Cougars will set sail in two regattas next weekend: the SAISA Fall Coed Championships on Saturday and Sunday in Atlanta Ga., and the Kennedy Offshore Cup on Saturday and Sunday in Annapolis, Md.
