
Charleston Finishes Second at Graham Hall Team Race

ANNAPOLIS, Md. --- The College of Charleston sailing team defeated Georgetown in the 2-3 sail-off to finish second at the Graham Hall Team Race, and placed ninth at the ultra-competitive St. Mary's Women's to cap a solid weekend of racing.
The Cougars finished second at the Graham Hall Team Race on Saturday and Sunday in Annapolis, Md. after winning a 2-3 sail-off against Georgetown. Charleston posted a 12-3 record in round one – one ahead of Navy and two behind regatta champion Yale. Alie Toppa, Steven Leuck, and Augie Dale skippered for Charleston with crews Carter Cameron, Annabel Carrington, Olver Parsons, Katerine Lounsbury, and Payton Alexander.
Charleston also placed ninth out of 18 teams at the extremely competitive St. Mary's Women's on Saturday and Sunday in St. Mary's, Md. with 246 points. Skipper Liza Toppa guided the Cougars to 124 points in A-Division with crews Emily Essi and Caroline Bracken. Marian Williams and Elizabeth Mignon totaled 122 points in B-Division.
The Cougars return to the water next weekend for three regattas, including two team races: the Seahawk Women's Team Race on Saturday and Sunday in St. Mary's, Md. and Szambecki Team Race on Saturday and Sunday in Norfolk, Va. Charleston will also host the Spring Harbor Race on Saturday at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex.
