
Charleston Takes Second at SAISA Women's, Fifth at Admiral's Cup

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. --- The College of Charleston sailing team raced to a second-place finish at the SAISA Women's Championships on Saturday, and placed fifth at the Admiral's Cup on Saturday and Sunday in Kings Point, N.Y. on the final weekend of the regular season.
The Cougars opened the weekend with a second-place performance at the SAISA Women's, finishing the regatta with 52 points to book a ticket to the ICSA Women's National Championships on May 21-24 in Newport, R.I. Nicole Simon and Hannah Kinder never finished a race lower than fifth to place third in A-Division with 27 points. Liza Toppa and Clare Perry sailed to a third-place performance in B-Division with 25 points and one race win.
A solid fifth-place showing at the Admiral's Cup capped the weekend for the Cougars, as they finished just 22 points behind first-place Stanford in a closely-contested battle. Alie Toppa skippered the Cougars to 106 points and a fourth-place finish in B-Division with crews Oliver Parsons and Annabel Carrington. Skipper Augie Dale, along with crews Carter Cameron and Katie Lounsbury, finished sixth in A-Division with 115 points.
Charleston will travel to Newport, R.I. for the ICSA National Championships to be held May 21 – 31. The ICSA Women's National Championships will take place on May 21-24, followed by the ICSA Team Race National Championships (May 25-27), and the ICSA Coed National Championships (May 28-31).
