CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston sailing program, in conjunction with College of Charleston Institutional Advancement, is seeking donations to the Sailing Director's Excellence Fund in the form of a matching $25,000 gift as part of the College's first-ever CofC Day on Thursday, January 30.
"Celebrating CofC's 250th anniversary reminds us of the rich history our school and city both have," Director of Sailing Kevin Jewett said. "Our team's accomplishments over the past 50-plus years are a continuation of Charleston's maritime tradition that is interwoven throughout the centuries. We are blessed to be here continuing this tradition on the harbor and are grateful for the support we have received from our local community and alumni."
On the day the College of Charleston was founded, the College will hold its first CofC Day — a 24-hour giving day. Alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and community members are encouraged to come together on Thursday, January 30 to support the College and provide resources for our students, campus and community in honor of the College's 250th anniversary.
In honor of CofC Day, generous parents have challenged the CofC sailing family of alumni, parents and friends to raise $25,000 to the Sailing Director's Excellence Fund. Once the $25,000 goal has been met, these anonymous parents will donate an additional $25,000 to bring us to $50,000.
Supporting this fund will directly impact the Cougars' elite sailing program on a day-to-day basis, allowing the student-athletes to continue to train and performance at the highest level. Contributions will specifically impact the program's recruiting and nutritional budgets, provide additional competition opportunities for the whole team and upgrade the program's technology for teaching, training and performance. Through the support of alumni, family and friends the coaching staff will be able to meet the individual and unique needs of the program to continue competing for championships.
