Meeks scored a season-best 22 points in the loss
Charleston, S.C. -- In its first road matchup of the season, Charleston Basketball fell, 96-66, to Oklahoma State on Monday in Stillwater. The Cougars drop to 3-2 on the campaign after winning their first three games of the season.
Senior John Meeks led three Cougars in double figures with a season-high 22 points. Freshmen Reyne Smith and Ben Burnham added 15 points and 10 points, respectively, in the loss.
Oklahoma State shot a season-best 50-percent from 3-point range after entering the game shooting 27.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Cowboys scored a season-high 96 points on 57 percent shooting overall.
The Cougars went toe-to-toe for much of the first half and used a 13-6 run to push in front 34-32 with 2:38 remaining. Oklahoma State responded with an 11-2 run of its own to close the opening half and seize momentum heading into the locker room.
Oklahoma State never looked back after that run and built on their lead in the final 20 minutes as six Cowboys wound up in double figures.

- Senior John Meeks scored a CofC-best 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Meeks has scored at least 16 points in four of the Cougars' first five games.
- Freshman Ben Burnham reached double figures for the third consecutive game with 10 points and a career-high seven rebounds. Burnham has made 10 of his last 18 field goal attempts.
- Freshman Reyne Smith tallied 15 points on four trifectas. The back-to-back CAA Rookie of the Week has 3+ triples in each of the last two games and has scored in double figures in three straight contests.
- Senior Dimitrius Underwood posted six points, a career-high five steals and four rebounds. Underwood is just the fourth Cougars since 2017 to record five steals in a game.
- Meeks' 22 points marked the most Oklahoma State has surrendered to an individual player this season.
- Freshman Reyne Smith has scored 10+ points in four of his first five career games.
- Charleston outrebounded Oklahoma State, 39-36. The Cougars have outpaced four of their first five opponents on the glass, but Monday marked the first time they've lost when outrebounding an opponent.
