CHARLESTON, S.C. – CofC Basketball inked veteran guard Ryan Larson, head coach
Pat Kelsey announced on Monday. Larson is a graduate transfer combo guard from Wofford who comes to 'Our City' with 120 career games under his belt.
The St. Paul, Minnesota, native averaged 8.8 points per game and shot 42 percent from the field, 81.6 percent from the foul line and 39 percent from 3-point range as a senior for the Terriers last season. The sharpshooter hit a career-high 61 triples and finished the 2021-22 campaign with 283 points, starting all 32 contests.
"Ryan will bring a savvy veteran presence to Our City," Kelsey said. "He's a proven winner and brings it every night on both ends with a team-first mentality and leaves it all on the floor. Ryan personifies our culture in everything he does on and off the court and will be a special part of the program."
Larson, a 6-foot-1 guard, dished a team-high 3.6 assists as a senior at Wofford and has 321 dimes in his career. His career assist-to-turnover ratio is +1.8, paced by a jaw-dropping 2.1 ratio last season, which ranked third in the Southern Conference. Larson has also averaged 1.1 steals and 2.7 boards over his four-year career.
Entering his fifth season, Larson has posted four consecutive campaigns shooting 39.6 percent from the field or better. He scored at least seven points in 23 of 32 games a season ago and in double figures 13 times, including 19 points on five threes vs. Georgia Southern.
Larson played a key role during Wofford's 2019 SoCon Championship run and NCAA Tournament berth. In his four-year career, he helped steer the Terriers to an 83-43 record, making 80 starts in that span.
Larson is a two-time SoCon Honor Roll honoree and was named to the 2020-21 Academic All-SoCon Team. He is on track to earn his bachelor's degree in Business Economics this spring. Larson attended Cretin-Derham Hall High School, where he played his junior and senior seasons and won a 4A State Championship as a senior.
