
Charleston Places Ninth at Navy Spring Regatta

ANNAPOLIS, Md. --- The College of Charleston sailing team battled its way to a ninth-place finish at the fiercely competitive Navy Spring Regatta on Saturday and Sunday in Annapolis, Md.
The Cougars finished the regatta three points behind eighth-place Northeastern with a total of 217. Charleston placed seventh in B-Division with 98 points and ninth in A-Division with 119 points. Brandon Geller skippered six races for the Cougars in B-Division with Axel Stordahl taking the tiller for the remaining 10. Kalea Woodard crewed six races with Lucy Klempen on the gunwale for six and Geller crewing the last four. The Cougars collected seven top-five finishes in B-Division including a win in race two. Max Anker skippered the Cougars to four top-five finishes in A-Division with Noelle Owen crewing the first four races and Jack Sutton on the gunwale for the remaining 12.
Charleston will return to the water on Monday, May 16 for the semifinals of the ICSA Women's National Championships in New Orleans, La.
