1/15/2023 11:33:00 AM

CHARLESTON, S.C. -  The No. 22 College of Charleston men's basketball team will play their second contest at TD Arena in three days when William & Mary comes to Charleston on Monday. The Cougars defeated Elon on Saturday 78-60 to set-up a battle with the Tribe who took down UNCW yesterday. Action is set for 5:00 p.m. in TD Arena.

STORYLINES
  • After a 20-year absence, the College of Charleston men's basketball team is ranked in AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll coming in at No. 22 after spending last week at 23.
  • The Cougars received 246 votes after lurking the receiving votes column for most of the young season. This is the Cougars' highest ranking since being No. 16 in the March 1, 1999 AP Poll.
  • With 12 games remaining this season, the Cougars have already match their 17 wins from a season ago.
  • At 18-1, Charleston holds the nation's longest winning streak at 17 straight victories. Their 18 wins are also the most by any team in the country so far this season. Prior to Wednesday's game in Wilmington, CAA rival UNCW held the nation's second longest win streak with 13 in a row.
  • Four different Cougars scored in double-figures in both of Charleston's victories this week.
  • 18-1 is also the best start in CAA history. Richmond was the previous standard after opening the 1985-86 season 16-1.
  • The Cougars lead the CAA in scoring offense (80.2) and combined team rebounds per game (39.8). Nationally, CofC ranks third in the country in 3-point attempts per game (30.4) and 14th in offensive rebounds per game (13.68).
SCOUTING THE TRIBE
  • Anders Nelson paces W&M with 11.4 points per game while Noah Collier grabs 8.5 rebounds per game, the third most in the CAA.
  • Nelson also ranks second in the league with 4.7 assists per game.
  • Nelson and Charlie Williams led the Tribe with 15 points each in Saturday's win over UNCW. It was a career high for Williams, who went 11-of-12 from the free throw line. Ben Wight had 10 points in a regulation contest that lasted two hours and 44 minutes.
