CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team dominated Northeastern 99-63 Monday night at TD Arena. The Cougars move to 25-3 overall and 13-2 in CAA play, the first team in the country to 25 wins this season. CofC remains tied with Hofstra for first place in the league.
Â
The Cougars were led from the start by six straight points from
Ante Brzovic. Charleston built up an early 21-point lead behind an 18-2 run as the Cougars found their hot streak midway through the first half, shooting 7-7 from the field over a three minute span. Northeastern responded with a burst 12-0 run of their own, but it was not enough to overcome a 13-point CofC advantage at the end of the stretch. Charleston held the Huskies from scoring in the last three minutes of the half to enter the locker room up 49-32.
Â
The Cougars continued to build their lead throughout the second half. An 8-0 run highlighted by two triples from
Reyne Smith gave the Cougars a 32-point advantage.
Pat Kelsey's team never looked back, never letting the Huskies within more than 13 to cruise to victory.Â
