Cougars Place 12th in Open ACC Championship

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston placed 12th in the Open Atlantic Coast Championship finals regatta in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Cougars also finished second in the McMillan Cup and sixth in the Yale Women's regatta.
Charleston's boats earned 84 and 60 points, good for 144 points and two shy of Navy's 142, which claimed 11th. Noah Zittrer, Clara Murphy, Aidan Iaconis, Benjamin Dufour, Andrea Melnik and Garrett Grenauer represented the Cougars at the open final.
In New Haven, Conn., the Cougars boats claimed 96 and 94 points for a total of 190, three points shy of fifth place Northeastern. Emma Tallman, Lucy Elvart, Marina Dryer, Emily Alfortish, Nina Lubchenco and Paige Lubrano sailed for CofC.
In offshore, The College took second place in the McMillan Cup, garnering 16 points. Navy won the regatta with 13. Gwen Nechas, George Helme, Jonathan Weed, Avi Rosan, Savannah Hudson, John McCarthy, Robert Silcox, John Polek and Max McCormick sailed for Charleston.
The Cougars host a pair of regattas this weekend; the SAISA Fall Women's Championship Oct. 25 and 26 and the SAISA Fall Open Championship Oct. 26 and 27.
