
Open ACC Qualifies for Finals

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston advanced to the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Finals later this month following a fourth-place finish at the qualifying regatta in Annapolis, Md. The Cougars also won the CofC Women's Fall and Tiger Town Trophy regattas.
At the Open ACC Qualifier, CofC sailed to a fourth-place finish for a total of 247 points. Charleston's boats had 133 and 114 points, respectively as the top nine teams in the regatta qualified for the finals. Noah Zittrer, Clara Murphy, Aidan Iaconis, Benjamin Dufour, Andrea Melnik, Dillon Garica and Jonnie Ciffolillo all represented The College.
The Cougars claimed the top spot in its home regatta, with their boats earning 62 and 85 points for a total of 147 points; 61 points lower than second-place Jacksonville. Isabella Shakespeare, Lucy Elvart, Paige Lubrano, Fredrikke Foss, Nina Lubchenco and Marina Dryer helped Charleston win the regatta.
Charleston dominated the Tiger Town Trophy in Clemson, S.C. The duos of Griffin Beaulieu and Katie Hanley and Charlie Allen and Lucy Zinn won all the races in the regatta, posting scores of three and three for six total points. Clemson finished second and third with 19 and 22 total points.
The Cougars compete in a pair of regattas this weekend, with the Women's ACC Final Oct. 12-13 in Annapolis, Md., and the offshore squad racing in the Intercollegiate Offshore Oct. 11-13 in Larchmont, Conn.
