Beach Volleyball Heads South for North Florida Invite

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston Beach Volleyball team travels to Jacksonville, Fla. for the North Florida Invite this weekend. The Sandy Cougs will play four matches over Friday and Saturday.
Charleston enters the weekend at 6-10 on the season after going 3-1 at the Sun Belt Mid-Season weekend. The Cougars picked up wins against Southern Mississippi, Stephen F. Austin and Louisiana-Monroe, dropping one match to Georgia Southern. All of the wins came from a 3-2 score in which the Cougs fifth pair of Elizabeth Curry and Brooke Hoven won the decisive match.
Friday, Charleston will take on UAB at 8:00 a.m. to kick off the weekend. The Blazers sit at 10-6 after a 3-1 weekend at the Sugar Beach Bash in Louisiana, picking up wins against #20 Tampa, Southern Mississippi and New Orleans. UAB's lone loss of the weekend was a tight 3-2 match against South Carolina. At 2:00 p.m. Charleston will face off against Mercer. The Bears are 12-10 on the year after dropping matches to Louisiana-Monroe, Georgia State and Coastal Carolina at the Sun Belt Mid-Season last weekend.
On Saturday, Charleston will take on New Orleans at Noon. The Privateers enter with a 10-11 record after going 3-3 at the Southland Conference Mid-Season weekend, picking up wins against McNeese State, San Jose State and Nicholls. The Cougars will then finish with weekend against host North Florida. The Ospreys are 11-7 on the year after a 3-3 trip to California. Before heading west, UNF won the Carolina Challenge with victories over South Carolina, New Orleans, Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky.
