CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston of Charleston head men's basketball coach Chris Mack has announced the signing of Green Bay transfer Elijah Jones to the 2024-25 roster.
"We are excited to add Elijah Jones to the Cougars. Elijah is a multifaceted wing that can guard any position on the floor," said Mack. "He has length, athleticism and a bounce to his step. When you watch Elijah play, his effort on that end of the floor really sticks out."
Jones played in 31 contests with 29 starts at Green Bay last season. He led the team with 6.7 rebounds per game which ranked seventh in the Horizon League. Additionally, Jones averaged 8.1 points per game while shooting 59% from the field.
Prior to joining the Phoenix, Jones spent the 2022-23 season with John A. Logan College where he became an NJCAA national champion with a 73-70 victory over Northwest Florida State College. He shot 60 percent from the floor and 52.8 percent from deep during the championship run.
"Offensively he has a quick first step, wiggle to his game and is a highly efficient shooter from deep. He is a terrific rebounder on either end as well. He is still scratching the surface on who he can be as a player. We can't wait to get Elijah here this summer. "
The Illinois native spent the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons at Southern Indiana. After redshirting the 2020-21 season, Jones appeared in 23 games for the Screaming Eagles and averaged 18.5 minutes of game time, scoring 4.7 points per game.
