CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team fell to UNCW 85-83 on a snowy Thursday night in Charleston.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After trading baskets to start the contest, the Seahawks went on a 9-0 run to take a 13-7 lead. An AJ Smith old fashioned three-point play cut the deficit to three with fifteen minutes to play in the first half before Derrin Boyd tied it on a make from behind the arc.
  • UNCW extended the lead to as much as ten before a 9-0 Cougar run made it a one-point contest at 30-29 with ten minutes remaining.
  • Charleston went two minutes without a basket before an Ante Brzovic floater and CJ Fulton triple gave CofC a 39-38 edge, their first lead since the opening minutes of play.
  • Charleston ended the half going 1-8 from the field to enter the locker room down 49-42. Boyd (14), Smith (13), and Brzovic (10) all had double-digit points in the frame.
  • Back-to-back threes from CJ Fulton and Justas Stonkus sparked a 7-9 shooting stretch from the field.  The teams went a combined 14-18 from the field during the run, keeping a 74-67 UNCW lead with seven minutes to play.
  • The Cougars held steady, slowing cutting the lead to two points at 85-83  with just thirty seconds to play. Boyd had a guarded look at the basket for a chance to win game but fell just short of the comeback.
