
Second Half Surge Leads Cougars to Victory

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – CJ Fulton dished out a career-high 12 assists while Ante Brzovic recorded his 14th career double-double to help the Cougars top Hofstra 67-61 on Thursday night in Long Island, the fifth straight win for the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After trading points to start the game, Charleston fell cold going 1-11 from the field before Brzovic broke a three-minute scoring drought off the find from Fulton. The Cougars went 3-3 from the field following the Brzovic bucket to give Hofstra a 28-24 lead with two minutes to play in the half.
- Hofstra sank a corner three with three seconds remaining in the frame to go up 31-24 before Deywilk Tavarez sank a half court shot to cut the deficit to four at the end of the half. Brzovic led Charleston with nine points in the half.
- Fulton started the half with a bang on a make from behind the arc. A Brzovic jumper in the paint and Tavarez triple gave Charleston their first lead since 18:34 in the first half at 35-31.
- A 7-0 run highlighted by a Lazar Djokovic and-1 coupled with a four-minute Hofstra drought pushed the Charleston advantage to 53-44, their largest lead of the game. Hofstra came within three points but were never able to catch the Cougars on their way to victory.

KEY COUGARS
- Fulton's career-high 12 assists are the second most in a single game in Charleston history. The senior added seven rebounds, eight points, and had zero turnovers.
- Brzovic had a game-high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his 14th overall and sixth double-double of the season.
- Derrin Boyd contributed ten points while Djokovic grabbed seven rebounds.

- Charleston narrowly outshot Hofstra from the field 40% to 38%. The Cougars shot 48% in the second half compared to 35% from the Pride.
- The Cougars' six turnovers are the lowest committed this season. Charleston earned 14 points off Hofstra's 12 turnovers.
- Charleston gained the lead 23 seconds into the second half and never looked back
- The Cougars, now 13-3 and undefeated in CAA play, will remain on the road and face Monmouth on Saturday in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Action is set for 1:00 p.m.
