Second Half Surge Leads Cougars to Victory

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – CJ Fulton dished out a career-high 12 assists while Ante Brzovic recorded his 14th career double-double to help the Cougars top Hofstra 67-61 on Thursday night in Long Island, the fifth straight win for the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After trading points to start the game, Charleston fell cold going 1-11 from the field before Brzovic broke a three-minute scoring drought off the find from Fulton. The Cougars went 3-3 from the field following the Brzovic bucket to give Hofstra a 28-24 lead with two minutes to play in the half.
  • Hofstra sank a corner three with three seconds remaining in the frame to go up 31-24 before Deywilk Tavarez sank a half court shot to cut the deficit to four at the end of the half. Brzovic led Charleston with nine points in the half.
  • Fulton started the half with a bang on a make from behind the arc. A Brzovic jumper in the paint and Tavarez triple gave Charleston their first lead since 18:34 in the first half at 35-31.
  • A 7-0 run highlighted by a Lazar Djokovic and-1 coupled with a four-minute Hofstra drought pushed the Charleston advantage to 53-44, their largest lead of the game. Hofstra came within three points but were never able to catch the Cougars on their way to victory.
