
Bulldogs Top Cougars in Non-Conference Action

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team fell to Drake 71-62 in non-conference action on Monday night at TD Arena.

- Jlynn Counter scored seven of the Cougars' first nine points as Charleston held Drake to a two for 10 stretch from the field during the opening seven minutes of play.
- Drake took their largest lead of the game 21-16 with five minutes to play. The Cougars went cold from the field, ending the half going 2-11 before Bryce Baker's first triple of the season brought Charleston within three to enter the locker room down 28-25.
- Counter had 12 of the Cougar's 25 first half points, their lowest total at the break so far this season.
- The Bulldogs took their largest lead of the game at 40-33 with 13 minutes left to play, shooting over 50% in the second half to secure the victory.
- Counter led Charleston with a game-high 21 points followed by Mister Dean with 12.
- Chol Machot had a game-high nine rebounds.
- Drake shot 43% from the field compared to 34% from Charleston.
- The Cougars outrebounded the Bulldogs 46-40, their third time this season winning the rebounding battle.
- The Cougars had 11 turnovers on the night and seven assists, the first time this season the program has not recorded a positive assist/turnover ratio.
- The loss was the third at TD Arena under Chris Mack.
- Charleston, now 2-3 on the year, will travel to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam. The Cougars will play UMass on November 21 at 3:00 p.m. est on ESPN+ to start the tournament.
