
#2 NCEA Suffers Pair of Setbacks

CHARLESTON, S.C. – No. 2 College of Charleston equestrian lost to No. 4 Dartmouth and Sacred Heart over the weekend.
The Cougars suffered a 7-3 defeat to the Big Green before tying the Pioneers 5-5 and losing the tiebreaker, 812-790.
Against Dartmouth, junior Camilla Murray earned MOP in the fences with a score of 80. Senior Maddi Cardelli also grabbed a point for the College in the event as the Cougars headed into the break down 3-2. Dartmouth took the first four points in the flat to secure the win while senior Lainie Rubin picked up the final point in the meet, scoring a 75.
In the next meet at Sacred Heart, Cardelli, Murray and senior Olivia Lonneman helped put Charleston out to a 3-2 advantage in the fences. Cardelli's score of 86 was good for MOP honors. Rubin and sophomore Samantha Aisenberg picked up points in the flat as the Pioneers leveled the meet at five. Holding a combined score of 812, Sacred Heart won the tiebreaker.
The IHSA squad wraps up its fall competition Nov. 8-9 at the Highfields Event Center in Aiken, S.C.
