Cougars Fall at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team fell 90-75 at William & Mary on Monday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cougars jumped out to a 7-2 lead behind a pair of layups from Ante Brzovic and a Justas Stonkus triple. Stonkus added to lead on an emphatic dunk all the way from the baseline.
  • After going 1-7 from the field and allowing the Tribe to come within two, Derrin Boyd connected on a mid-range floater to extend the lead to 21-17. A stellar offensive rebounding effort from Lazar Djokovic and Elijah Jones kept the Cougars on the offensive end of the court. Three straight Brzovic points in the paint and a driving finish from CJ Fulton gave Charleston a 28-20 lead with eight minutes to play.
  • The teams went a combined 9-11 from the field before the Cougars fell cold from the field, going nearly three minutes without a basket. William & Mary tied the contest 32-32 on a corner three and took the lead just 30 seconds later on another triple with four minutes to play.
  • Stonkus tied it back up on a trey with three minutes to play. The teams traded points to end the frame before W&M took a 41-39 lead into the locker room. Boyd led Charleston with 12 points in the half followed by Brzovic with 11.
  • The teams again traded points to start the second half before Boyd tied the contest 48-48 on another triple. The Tribe kept the defensive pressure, taking their biggest lead of the evening at 57-51 with 13 minutes to play. Charleston came within four but could not cut the lead any further.
