Cougars Fall at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team fell 90-75 at William & Mary on Monday night.

- The Cougars jumped out to a 7-2 lead behind a pair of layups from Ante Brzovic and a Justas Stonkus triple. Stonkus added to lead on an emphatic dunk all the way from the baseline.
- After going 1-7 from the field and allowing the Tribe to come within two, Derrin Boyd connected on a mid-range floater to extend the lead to 21-17. A stellar offensive rebounding effort from Lazar Djokovic and Elijah Jones kept the Cougars on the offensive end of the court. Three straight Brzovic points in the paint and a driving finish from CJ Fulton gave Charleston a 28-20 lead with eight minutes to play.
- The teams went a combined 9-11 from the field before the Cougars fell cold from the field, going nearly three minutes without a basket. William & Mary tied the contest 32-32 on a corner three and took the lead just 30 seconds later on another triple with four minutes to play.
- Stonkus tied it back up on a trey with three minutes to play. The teams traded points to end the frame before W&M took a 41-39 lead into the locker room. Boyd led Charleston with 12 points in the half followed by Brzovic with 11.
- The teams again traded points to start the second half before Boyd tied the contest 48-48 on another triple. The Tribe kept the defensive pressure, taking their biggest lead of the evening at 57-51 with 13 minutes to play. Charleston came within four but could not cut the lead any further.
- Boyd had a game-high 21 points, his 14th straight contest in double-figures.
- Brzovic contributed 20 points with eight rebounds.
- Stonkus had 13 points, a high vs. Division I competition, shooting 50% from the field in his first career start.
- Djokovic had a game-high 11 rebounds while Jones contributed six.
- The Cougars shot 45% from the field compared to 50% from the Tribe.
- Charleston won the rebounding battle 36-33
- Charleston, now 17-6 and 7-3 in CAA play, will return home to TD Arena and host North Carolina A&T on Thursday, February 6.
- The game will be the third of three straight contests on CBS Sports Network for the Cougars. Action is set for 6:00 p.m.
