CHARLESTON, S.C. – Derrin Boyd and Ante Brzovic delivered two 20-point performances to help the College of Charleston men's basketball team win an 88-83 overtime thriller over Elon on Saturday night at TD Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Charleston started the game with three straight triples from Brzovic, CJ Fulton, and Boyd to take an early 11-7 lead.
After leading 20-12, a 6-0 Phoenix run cut the Cougar advantage to two. Key hustle plays and back-to-back put backs from Elijah Jones helped keep the Cougars in front, leading 30-28 with just under eight minutes to play.
Elon tied the game at 30-30 on a pair of free throws with seven minutes to play before another Boyd triple regained the Charleston lead. The Cougars proceeded to go on a 7-0 run while holding Elon scoreless for over four minutes.
The teams combined 5-23 from the field to end the half and send the Cougars into the locker room with a 44-36 advantage. Brzovic led Charleston with 11 points in the frame followed by Boyd with ten.
After going more than three minutes without a field goal in the second half, Charleston maintained a 52-50 edge with thirteen minutes to play. The Phoenix again cut it to one at 57-56 before a Justas Stonkus three erupted TD Arena.
Elon took their first lead since 7-5 in the first half with two minutes play and led 71-70 with 6.9 seconds to play. The Phoenix fouled Brzovic as time expired to send the senior to free throw line and tie the contest at the end of regulation.
Charleston went on a 6-0 overtime run to seal the victory, sinking 11-13 free throws in the extra frame.

KEY COUGARS

Brzovic recorded his 16^th career double-double with 27 points and ten rebounds. Boyd added 24 points of his own, sixth time this season crossing the 20+ threshold.
Fulton recorded 14 points and five assists while Lazar Djokovic grabbed ten rebounds.

GAME NOTES

Charleston shot 60% from the field in overtime to secure the win.
The Cougars caused a season-high 19 turnovers.
This is Charleston's second overtime win of the season.
