CHARLESTON, S.C. -  College of Charleston head men's basketball coach Chris Mack has announced the signing German guard Martin Kalu to the Cougars' 2025-2026 roster.  

A native of Quakenbrück, Germany, the 6'6", 210 lbs guard is currently playing for Basketball Loewen Braunschweig in the BBL, the top tier of German basketball. He was previously the FIBA U16 European Championship MVP.

"Martin is a high level athlete who has been competing at the highest level of basketball in Germany the last couple of years," said Mack. "Martin can guard 1-4 with his length and athleticism. Offensively he can shoot it and plays with high IQ."

Kalu averaged 19.6 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game and 2.7 assists per game last season for FC Bayern Munich while shooting 36% from behind the arc. He is currently shooting 43% from the field this season. 

"Martin's experience playing against professionals will allow him to compete physically from day one for the Cougars. We can't wait to get Martin here this summer."

Kalu will come to Charleston with four years of eligibility remaining.
