Murphy, Zittrer Earn Major SAISA Awards

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sophomore Clara Murphy and senior Noah Zittrer headlined 12 College of Charleston sailing student-athletes who earned 2024-25 South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (SAISA) awards, the conference announced. The Cougars also garnered three of the four major conference awards as Murphy won SAISA Women's Crew and Open Crew of the Year while Zittrer was named Open Skipper of the Year.
Zittrer, along with junior Benjamin Dufour, earned First Team All-Conference in Open Skippers while graduate Axel Stordahl garnered Second Team honors.
On the women's side, CofC had a conference-best four student athletes on the First Team All-Conference Women's Skippers as senior Emily Alfortish, senior Fredrikke Foss, sophomore Isabella Shakespeare and senior Emma Tallman all garnered the award.
Graduate Garrett Grenauer, junior Aidan Iaconis and sophomores Andrea Melnik and Murphy earned First Team All-Conference Crew. Freshman Isabella Mendoza Cabezas was one of the three Women's Skipper Rookies of the Year.
The Cougars are set to compete in the Fleet Race Nationals May 20-30 in St. Mary's City, Md.
