RICHMOND, Va. - College of Charleston graduate student Jlynn Counter earned his fourth CAA Player of the Week honor while freshman Chris Davis Jr. was named CAA Rookie of the Week after the Cougars 2-0 week to end the regular season.
Counter averaged 16.0 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the floor (9-20 FG) and 80.0% from the line (8-10 FT) in wins over Hampton and UNCW to end the regular season. He paced the league last week with 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals, while pulling down 3.5 rebounds per game. The Oklahoma City, Okla., native registered 20 of his game-high 23 points in the second half to orchestrate Charleston's charge from down 15 and secure a 79-76 comeback road win over UNCW to conclude its regular season. He also added seven assists in the win. Counter chipped in nine points, five assists and four rebounds at Hampton. Counter's four weekly awards are the most of any player in the league this season.
Davis Jr. averaged 13.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in the Cougars' 2-0 week on the road. The freshman guard notched a season-best 17 points in a come-from-behind win at UNCW, knocking down a trio of triples down the stretch, including a game-tying trey with 3:17 remaining. He also chipped in five boards and three steals in the victory. Davis had an all-around effort at Hampton on Thursday with nine points, six rebounds, four assists and zero turnovers.
The Cougars will be in the No. 2 seed in the 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Men's Basketball Championship and will learn the complete bracket following the conclusion of the league regular season on Tuesday.
