
Men's Golf Sets Program Low Round Record at Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's golf team set a new program low round record during the opening day of the Hootie at Bulls Bay hosted by South Carolina.
The Cougars turned in a -23, 265 card, five strokes ahead of second place Kansas. The record surpasses the -20 round set at the Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational in 2007. Charleston sank 25 total birdies and three eagles on the day, recording a team total of just five bogeys. Charleston currently leads five top 50 teams and six Power 4 programs. All Cougars in the official lineup ended the round under par.
Loran Appel leads the field with a -8, 64 for the lowest round from a Cougar so far this season.The junior sank seven birdies and a eagle, including three birdies in a row on holes 10,11 and 12. Miles Eubanks is one stroke behind Appel in second with a -7, 65. Eubanks recorded the Cougars' remaining two eagles and holes two and four.
The Cougars will continue play and look for the program's second win of the spring Monday and Tuesday at Bulls Bay.
