Appel Named CAA Golfer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. - College of Charleston junior Loran Appel has been named the CAA Golfer of the Week after his performance at the Hootie at Bulls Bay tournament. This is the first weekly conference honor of Appel's career.
Appel posted a runner-up finish at the Hootie at Bulls Bay, the top Charleston finisher in the individual standings with an 11-under finish. The junior paced the field following the opening round (-8), recording the lowest individual round of the season for the Cougars. He led the field in total birdies (17) and par 3 scoring (2.67).
The Cougars won the tournament in record-breaking fashion, turning in a 35-under and outlasting four ranked teams, including a six-stroke victory over second-place South Carolina. The Cougars set a new program low round record with a 23-under opening round and a program 36-hole record going -41 through two rounds.
Charleston returns to action April 6-7 at the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, Va. before the 2026 CAA Men's Golf Championship.
