CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston head men's basketball coach John Groce has announced the addition of Xavier Abreu to the 2026-27 Cougars' roster.
The 6'3 sophomore guard was named to the 2025-26 CAA All-Rookie Team after a standout year at CAA rival Northeastern.
"We are thrilled to add Xavier to our Charleston Basketball Family! He is an outstanding student-athlete and tremendous fit for the College and our men's basketball program," said Groce. "He is coming off an All-CAA campaign as a freshman at Northeastern and will bring size and athleticism to our roster at the guard spot. He has the unique ability to score the basketball as well as create for others which is ideal for how we play."
Abreu averaged 12.6 points per game and 2.7 rebounds per game on his way to All-Rookie honors, scoring the most points for a Northeastern freshman in over a decade. The Lynn, Mass. native scored in double-figures on 17 occasions, including a career-high 32 vs. Duquesne, while shooting 46% from the field.
Prior to Northeastern, Abreu attended Phillips Academy, where he averaged 26.4 points per game, 7.7 rebounds per game and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 52.2% from the floor, 38% from three and 86% from the line during the 2024-25 season. He was a two-time NEPSAC Class A First Team selection.
