High School
• Sailed for three years in middle school and all four years of high school, earning the team captaincy her senior year.
• Swam on her school's team from 2006-10 and was on the track team as a pole-vaulter from 2009-12.
• Set Ashley Hall’s school record as a pole-vaulter and was the team captain in 2012.
• Earned Ashley Hall’s Academic Athletic Award from 2009-12 and was on the Honor Roll 2009-13.
• Member of Youth Group and volunteered at the Special Olympics.
• Volunteered with Aveda Re-Cap, Habitat for Humanity and the Green Hearts Project.
Personal
• Chose College of Charleston because she felt like it was a good “all-around fit for me with sailing and academics.”
• Her athletic goals at the College are to “become one of the best female sailors on the team and perhaps eventually team captain.”
• Her career ambition is to “work in print design, photography or photo-journalism.”
• During the summers she works as a lifeguard and as a wakeboard instructor. She also flies kites, paddleboards and flies planes.
• Names her dad as her biggest influence because “he always pushes me to be positive and to do my best no matter what. Military selflessness means a lot to me – I firmly believe in the concept of putting the team before yourself.”
• Intends to major in communications at CofC.
