Eric Girard, Class of '88 (Tennis)
Eric Girard was a two-time NAIA All-American. He and doubles partner Matt Willson played for the CofC men's tennis team in the late 80's and captured the NAIA National Doubles Championship in 1987. They were also part of the 1987 NAIA national runner-up squad that lost by just one point to eventual champion Auburn-Montgomery. Girard was one of two talented French Canadians from Montreal recruited by former CofC head coach Dave Berryman along with fellow CofC Hall of Famer Pierre Lauzon. He was a No. 4 seed in singles at the NAIA National Championships in 1987. Girard came to CofC as the No. 4-ranked juniors player in Canada. He won the District 6 title at No. 1 singles and was ranked in the top 10 nationally in 1987.
