John P. Drafts, Class of '79 (Basketball)
John Drafts was an all-district player and from 1975-79 helped bring the College of Charleston men's basketball team four winning seasons, including three 100-point scoring efforts in an 18-win season in 1975-76. After graduation, Drafts served as the boys basketball coach at Battery Creek High School in Beaufort, S.C., for 27 seasons and compiled 343 career wins. He coached the Dolphins to a school-record 24 wins and led them on an unprecedented trip to the Class 3-A Lower State title game. The longtime coach and administrator continues to serve as athletics director at Battery Creek.
