Marion Busby, Class of '95 (Basketball)

A prolific guard who led the Cougars to their first NCAA Tournament berth in 1994 under legendary head coach John Kresse, Marion Busby ranks eighth all-time in career scoring with 1,504 career points (fifth in CofC Division I history) and second all-time in career three-pointers made (220). He was named the Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) Player of the Year, first team All-TAAC, Lowcountry Classic Tournament MVP with wins over Penn State and Alabama and the College of Charleston's Chevrolet Player of the Game for his 21-point effort against Wake Forest in the NCAA First Round during the 1993-94 campaign. Busby led the team in scoring three seasons in a row and guided the Cougars to back-to-back TAAC regular-season championship titles in 1994 and 1995. As a senior, he averaged a team-leading 16.9 points per game and was an All-TAAC First Team selection as the team went 23-6 overall earned a Postseason NIT bid.
