Cougar Club Announces Staff Promotions

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Cougar Club Executive Director Michele Wolfert has announced a number of Cougar Club Staff Promotions.
Former development assistant Derek Davis has been promoted to the position of Assistant Director, while Don Squires and Jeff Aschieris have been promoted to development associates.
Davis was hired last April for the position of development assistant after working as an intern in the Wolfpack Club at North Carolina State University. While at the College of Charleston, Davis has worked hard to foster relationships in the Charleston community and build financial support for the Cougar Club through a number of events and projects. He will now be responsible for all Premium Seating needs as well as the Parking and Hospitality programs that the Cougar Club utilizes throughout the year. Davis will also be instrumental in the identification, solicitation, and cultivation of prospects which will directly impact the growth of the Cougar Club in the areas of membership and scholarship funds.
Davis graduated from N.C. State in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a minor in business management.
“We are looking forward to having Derek continue the great work he has demonstrated while on staff at the Cougar Club,” Wolfert said. “His experience will be an asset to our team as we continue to enhance the student-athlete experience here at the College of Charleston.”
Graduates of the College of Charleston, Squires and Aschieris bring a passion and fervor to their new positions as development associates after working as interns for the last several months.
A 2011 graduate, Squires has worked tirelessly to promote the Cougar Club and its opportunities through social media, graphic design, event planning and the Cougar Club newsletter. A native of Aynor, S.C., Squires has been part of the Cougar Club in various positions since 2011, and now will help lead the drive to increase membership and support for Cougar athletic scholarships.
Aschieris comes on to the Cougar Club staff after interning with CofC’s marketing department and competing on the national championship sailing team, graduating in 2013. A native of Newport Beach, Calif., Aschieris has already been building relationships with local businesses for the Cougars Supporting Cougars program, and will expand his role by heading up the Graduate Cougar Club and planning special events for Cougar Club members who travel to watch the Cougars in action around the country.
“Having two alums on staff with Jeff and Don is a tremendous benefit to our group as we continue to enrich all areas of the Cougar Club,” Wolfert said. “Having the experiences of former students at the College of Charleston as well as a former student-athlete is so helpful as we plan for ways to develop our game plan moving forward.”
